We
have one main site with thousands of accounts. These accounts are manipulated by
various external applications, and because of that they are stored in an MSSQL
db for easy access and compatability.
We
also host a lot of small sites with a few accounts each. These are mostly
manipulated by their respective owners via webmail, and therefore uses the imail
internal (registry) storage. This is mostly because it's easier (we don't have
to create tables for each host), but it probably performs better
too.
