I have to back up and correct myself now.  In an early development version of the 
phrase filter (prior to release) the phrase would not match if the phrase list 
contained the '.', so I have had that stuck in memory since.  If you have 
'microsoft.com' in the phrase list it will match up with 'microsoft.com' or 'microsoft 
com' or 'microsoft       com'.  The '+' is another delimiter just like the '.', so it 
is basically ignored if it's in the phrase list.  Here are some other characters that 
are treated as delimiters:  ;:,&.%!{}|?<>[]()"_-+*\~`/=^'$@
