Same problem here in Italy using a dd.mm.yyyy format.

As I understand it's not so easy to solve this with javascript because
the imail webmessaging engine doesn't return a "date". There is only a
method to output the entire list of mails containing from, subject,
date, size, ... already formated as an HTML table.

Maybe it's possible to write a replace-function in javascript that
replaces any xx/yy/zzzz to yy-xx-zzzz for the entire output result of
this webmessaging method. But this will replace also any mm/dd/yyyy in
the subjectline to dd-mm-yyyy
