Looks like I got the IP addresses sorted out. '} After that was taken care of, I did narrow it down to a problem with smtp on my end. I have 8.04 running. Since the only other variable was new hardware, I thought it may be a NIC problem. Guess what...IT WAS.
The drivers for the gigabit NIC from SMC that I was using (SMC9452TX)was causing the problem. As soon as I swapped to my trusty 3Com 3c905 NIC, problem solved. GO figure. I guess the lesson learned is ALWAYS look to the new hardware first, especially the NICs. Thanks for everyone's help.
