Like many in this forum I have experienced the much
discussed AOL Problem; Mail goes through ok sometimes and at other times all
mail to AOL and some others is returned with the error user unknown. After
monitoring this and watching mail go through the logs fine for several hours
and then without warning AOL fails for an hour or two and then for no reason it
works again I was very frustrated. We process approximately 150,000 pieces of mail each day and
can have 100’s of bounce AOL mail each day. After applying the fix I have
experienced NO bounced AOL mail for the last 3 days. The Fix: Get a SERVER grade 3 Com Network Interface Card for
your DNS Server. This card
runs about $100 and after placing this card on our Main DNS Server all the
problems went away. We had a 3 Com card on that server but not a SERVER grade
card. This made all the difference. The card we used is 3COM 3CR990SVR97. If you try this and it works let me know. |
