The Symantec Enterprise comes with additional software compared to Corporate Edition. It comes with Symantec SMTP Gateway, which you should install on a separate Win2k Server and it has an SMTP Email scanning engine. It also has some good filtering features and rudimentary spam blocking ability - RBL options.

We installed the EdgeForce because occasionally some virus would get past the Symantec SMTP Gateway and the dual layer protection has stopped that.

So if I wanted to be able to keep virus-infected emails from ever reaching
their destination mailbox, then I would need software other than my
existing SAVCE to do so? Otherwise, my SAVCE would scan emails for
viruses just the same as it does other files on the network?
