I've read in this list a way to use rules to
bypass filtering in lieu of the whitelist. It involved setting up a rule
that says if the from address contains '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'
then copy to something like 'trash'. Then you would setup a rule
specific to the trash user that basically says to delete anything coming to
it. The post said this would effectively bypass filtering.
I tried this and unless I totally missed the boat
on something it didn't work quite the way it should. The
messages seem to be delivered to the users as stated, but the rule I
have setup specific to the trash user won't delete the mail copied to
trash.
This is not a big deal, but why wouldn't this
work:
I have a rule that says that if the header
contains X-IMAIL-SPAM then move it to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. I did this so
that everything detected as spam goes to me. I did this because I host
mail for most of my family on my own server and since they are not too hip on
how any of this works, I thought it better to just deal with their spam
myself. They don't get much, but some of their legit mail gets detected
as spam. So, why could I not just create a rule for the domain
that is processed prior to my X-IMAIL-SPAM rule that simply moves the mail I
want to let through to main if the rule is triggered? Wouldn't this
dump the allowed mail into the respective user's
box?
