Imail provides the basic interfaces for calling 3rd party filters. You just need to code the particulars.
It's a bit more involved than that, actually. For a mission critical server, it requires very good coding along with exception handling functionality, file locking per the IMail specs, thread priority manipulation (if the D*.SMD file is altered), etc. There are quite a few "gotchas" that you have to be aware of. It can certainly be done (as you know), but requires more than basic programming skills.
