A side note, whenever doing anything like this, make sure to reapply service packs and patches, as reinstalling OS components might "unpatch" your system. At least, that was the case back in the 9x days.

Running a tool like HFnetchk will let you know if any components are out of date, and which patches to apply to correct that.

Sorry for going off on a tangent, especially if this is no longer a problem, but this might save someone a bit of a headache some day.
