Registry  absolutely  destroys SQL in testing; the only reasons to use
SQL  are  manageability  and  integration  with  other apps. NT SAM/AD
integration varies depending on size of the directory, from as fast as
Registry to slower than SQL in extreme cases.

You  should  not  be  using  RAID  5 on a mailserver. RAID 1 or 10 are
appropriate.
