I'm trying to send email using imail v8.05 from open-quest.com to [EMAIL PROTECTED] but they get bounced back with an 'unknown user' error message, although this address is, of course, valid, and it can receive emails from anywhere else. Emails from open-quest.com to other addresses hosted by powweb.com (which is where abelard-and-heloise.com is hosted) also get returned with the same error message (!), but all other emails seem to go out with no problem.
This problem has existed for months. As far as I can tell it's not related to any ORBS antispam blacklist or anything.
The problem is that IMail reports a generic error message, rather than the one that the remote mailserver gives. Years ago, a certain error code just meant "this user doesn't exist" -- but for a number of years now, it has also been used for anti-spam purposes, complete with an explanation of why the E-mail was rejected.
To find out why it was rejected, you can either search the SMTP log file, or use our free BounceFinder program (at http://www.declude.com/tools ).
