We have seen the same problem starting at version 8.0. It seemed to get better with version 8.05. At one point the problem was so bad with the queue manager we would have to stop and restart it a couple times a day. I have been holding off on the 8.10 upgrade until the verdict is out by the community.

In regards to the Queue backup's we eventually wrote a Windows service that monitors for queue size and growth and can notify us based on configured settings. You can configure the service to notify you or run an external script if any of your settings are exceeded. It has helped out out tremendously getting early notification when something goes bad.

We upgraded our 8.05 install to 8.10 this morning. 15 domains and 70,000+ accounts on a 4 processors system with 2Gb or ram.

At first everything seemed fine, but then the spool started to fill up. Then the Queue and the SMTP service both started restarting randomly. The Queue service in particular seemed very unstable. After several hours the problem only got worse, some emails got delayed by 30 minutes to an hour.
I rolled us back to 8.05 and everything seems fine again.

An initial impression is that maybe the new antispam filters are chocking (we get a lot of spam), and creating a bottleneck for email delivery which snowballs.

Anyone else experienced problems with this upgrade?

Stephan.
