I have been VERY happy with our configuration.

If you visit

http://www.summitinternetservices.com/tests.htm

you will see a flowchart that includes the DNS tests we are currently running. We are currently (as of midnight last night) only seeing a false positive rate of 0.16% (34 messages) out of 30,317 emails identified as spam over the past fourteen days.

Our settings are loose enough that some spam still gets through but we feel we have hit upon a happy mix of keeping the VAST majority out while only trapping a few valid email.

You will also see on th4e page the message we bounce to messages that make it past the DNS tests and for messages that get caught for banned attachment types.

Any recommendations on which anti spam databases to use that actually work?

You can go to http://www.declude.com/junkmail/support/ip4r.htm for a list of all of them, along with descriptions, if you want to pick your own.

If you are a Declude JunkMail customer, we have a default list (in the configuration files) that has proven to work quite well (but that doesn't adapt well to IMail v8's anti-spam, as it doesn't support the weighting that is necessary for our default configuration).
