Ok, so what exactly is the VAL helo check? I mean, what does it
technically do? Here are my points of confusion:

X-IMAIL-SPAM-HELODOMAIN: (domain_name) - The message failed the
HELO/EHLO domain validation.
X-IMAIL-SPAM-VALHELO - The message failed the
HELO/EHLO domain validation.

I know that the HELO/EHLO test centers around the domain name that is
given when the connecting server says "HI", however what test is done on
that domain name for each of those two X-headers? Just a ping to make
sure it's there? What is the difference between the two X-headers?

And

X-IMAIL-SPAM-INVALIDFROM: (from_address) - The message contained an
invalid "FROM" address.
X-IMAIL-SPAM-VALFROM: (<message ID>) - The message failed the "MAIL
FROM" address validation.

Again, what is the difference between these two? What test is
performed to make sure the address is valid?

Jamie Price

The "X" header you listed is the header added to any message that fails
the Val Helo check
