Chris, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but if you are in using
your own network or if you know all or most of the networks that your
users will be sending you mail from, you can ALLOW these specific
subnets only to send you mail and use auth for just the users on
networks you do not know about or control. To do this use the 'relay
for addresses' feature of Imail.

CONTINUINGPROBLEMS

Chris:

I do not know the size of your client base but you are probably going to
have to do a phased approach if you have a client base of any size. I
hate
to tell you to be an open relay but it is probably better to notify your
user base of the change before you make it and start having them
implement
smtp auth. That way when you make the change most of them already have
their settings properly configured. Otherwise you just have angry
people
calling you.

I do not have a good answer on Eudora.

Make sure if the email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] and he has the
smtp
mail server set as mail.mydomain.com that he is logging on with his
account
name only - johndoe not [EMAIL PROTECTED] That is one of the most
common errors that we see.
