Hi, We are in the process of configuring peering to our domain bsnl.in. We have user database in SQL, around 23000 users are there in single domain(bsnl.in).
All the user mailboxes are on old server (server1). In new server (server2) we have enabled only SMTP service. In DNS, priority is given to server2. Our aim is all mails should come through server2 and virus and spam checking should be done there and delver to server1 mailbox. In the server2 we have given user database as IMail database. It is working fine, all inbound mails are first coming to server2 and being delivered to Server1 user mailbox. Problem:- Lot of users are downloading mails to outlook express/outlook through pop3. These users mail clients are configured to SMTP server as server1. We want these outlook express/outlook clients also should send mails through new server (server2). In the above given setup if we configure user mail clients SMTP server to Server2, it is not working, as server2 is pointed to IMail user database where no user exists. We have tried with pointing server2 also to same SQL user database, when we configure like this if any mail comes to local domain user, as user is exists and mailbox is not there in server2, it is creating mailbox in local disk and delivering mail. Mail is not going to the server1 where the actual Mailbox exists. Please help us to sort out this problem, do we need to do any configuration changes let us know. Let us know if you need any further information. Your earliest reply will be appreciated.
