When Blaster was causing chaos (it was knocking out our old Cisco AS5200 dialup server until we finally blocked ICMP ping traffic to and from it), we did our best to review huge SNMP logs to determine which of our customers were broadcasting. Too many ISPs, particularly the big ones, don't seem to give a damn what traffic they're spewing. There are simple, economical (sometimes even free) ways to deal with these worms, and if individual users aren't being responsible, then I think the scissors should be taken to their connection. -- A.
