Joe-Jobbed is probably more likely the case, if the original messages didn't spew
forth from your server, and there's not a darn
thing you can do about it, really, because the networks bouncing those messages back
to you aren't seeing that they are forgeries,
so the spammer is effectively hijacking all of them to fire off the <> sender bounces
to your users (intended targets).

In theory, SPF and/or similar forgery identification technologies would help this once
widely implemented. If they had decent spam
filter that might identify these things that would help too, but again, implementation
on their end is the key.

As Sandy will vigorously proclaim, you can't turn off NUL sender acceptance, but you
might have to find something to screen them
after arrival before they load up all your users' mailboxes.

Subject: [IMail Forum] I'VE BEEN HIJACKED - HELP

Does anyone know how to stop an ongoing hijacking.

Since yesterday I have received several thousand emails which seems to be
sent by my users, but this is not the case.

Many of my users are getting many "undelivered mail" in return.

I believe I have been hijacked by someone, but I can not find out who?

How can I find out!

Regards,
Steinar
