All I'm doing is creating a rules.ima file in the user's directory programmatically. We don't have anything unusual disabled within Imail (ie sub mailbox creation).
If a file already exists, we can make whatever changes we want to it...add rules, delete rules, completely rewrite the file, or whatever. And the new changes to the rules take effect immediately. But, if there is no file to begin with, and we put one in the folder: Imail Administrator doesn't seem to recognize it (can't view/edit it), and the rules don't take effect. Also, I checked the file ownership. The file that my program generates has the same permissions and ownership as the one that Imail generates. -- Alex Nikdel [EMAIL PROTECTED] Kingham Software, Inc ePolk.com -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sanford Whiteman Sent: Monday, May 17, 2004 4:50 PM To: Alex Nikdel Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] hand creating rules.ima file > Is there a flag or something (in the registry/db/anywhere) that > tells Imail what users have rules set up? There is no such flag, and the services do not need to be restarted. Are you sure you're seeing what you think you're seeing? For example, are you expecting IMail to create a submailbox automatically, but disallowing submailbox creation? Or is it possible that there is a file ownership/ACL issue? --Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.mailmage.com/download/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/Release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
