The way I see it, long winded e-mails about how people are so lazy
because they didn't do whatever is silly and wasteful.

Sorry -- it was designed to be educational. Over 50% of the posts to the list today were useless. That would hint that over 50% of the people on this list need this information about why there is a problem.

If your not willing to help...

Again, I apologize if you feel that I am not willing to help. I help on here quite often. I gave my "good" advice (use software designed for the task; in this case, AV or content management software). I do not, however, like to spend a lot of time giving less useful advice (using filters to block attachments, as I keep saying, is OK for people who can accept the false positives/negatives and have no AV software, but not very useful to others).

If you look at my historical posts, you will see that it is very, very rare for me to respond that someone should look something up without giving them the information they need. And, my previous post explains why I did not in this case.

... don't offer your personal opinion/complaint/gripe and
bash other people for wanting to know.

I'm sorry that you feel that it is a gripe, but many people here agree with me on this one. And many people who don't know as much as they need to about E-mail in order to run a mailserver now have a bit more information on how to do so.

Delete it (or all of them) and move on...

<G> The famous quote of spammers. Do you realize that children spend millions of hours a year "just delete it"'ing pornographic E-mails that they did not want? "Just delete it" isn't the answer. Nor is finding a way to block the "me too"'s. Education is the answer here. (I'm not trying to compare "me too" posts to porn spam, just showing that "just delete it" isn't an effective solution to the problem).

I do agree that posting "Me too!" to the entire list is wasteful and
they should have contacted me directly but everyone is not on the same
knowledge level.

That's exactly why I posted about this. Should I just let them continue to be ignorant about a topic they need to know about, or educate them so that they won't continue causing problems and will hopefully be able to educate *their* users -- perhaps reaching 10 or 100 times as many people?

And if you were upset about my E-mail, shouldn't you have just deleted it? <G>
