i tried to use the maximumum recipients feature, but found that imail does
not differentiate between incoming and outgoing (from customers) emails.
some customers do not want to use mailinglists but sennd e.g. weekly email
to 2500 recipients.
so i have to reset the max. recipients value to unlimited, because it is
useless for me. any idea to fix this?

The fix is with the mail client sending out the E-mail. The SMTP RFCs actually state that a mailserver is only required to accept up to 100 recipients per E-mail address. The mail client can't assume that the mailserver allows unlimited recipients (few mailservers do). The RFCs specifically state "A client that needs to deliver a message containing over 100 RCPT commands SHOULD be prepared to transmit in 100-recipient "chunks" if the server declines to accept more than 100 recipients in a single message."

another nice feature is smtp delay (see attached) text.
will imail handle it the same way, not differentiating between in and out?
i would like to use this feature because it will also reduce the traffic.

There is an option to reduce the delay between recipients, but no option to introduce delays elsewhere (or real tarpitting). For technical reasons, it is unlikely that Ipswitch will add such a feature in the near future.
