With even the big mail cleaning outfits like brightmail and message labs seeing 70+% of all mail as non-legit, it is becoming increasinly untenable to defend those volumes on the mailbox server while accepting all inbound in totality before rejecting. I admin several MXs for ISPs where the reject rate is 80% to 90%, on weekdays.
