It's perfectly viable, just slower under load. > Would the option of converting to Imail internal then using some of > the tools available to convert that to external SQL or are there > methods to directly export the accounts and use the data to create a > SQL database. This is a very reasonable path, since the per-user settings are stored in the exact same place for IMail database hosts and NT-integrated hosts (that is, in the Registry) and you'll need to get at that info anyway. > I should add that we are also using our Imail server with Declude as > a very cost effective gateway and for anti-spam anti-virus > protection to our staff/faculty Exchange 2003 server. Not sure which "exposure" you're referring to--IMail needs only to be installed on _a_ domain controller, possibly for a segregated domain, and that DC need not answer any remote logon requests--but that seems generally quite reasonable. Also check my signature for a utility, designed specifically for a mail flow such as yours, that allows you to stop mail to nonexistent Exchange recipients during the original (remote-to-IMail) envelope.
