The first problem is your DNS is reporting an IP address for its MX. This is wrong. It needs to respond with a valid a record like 'mail.lights-direct.com' and _that_ should be looked up for the ip address. Never never never never....Put a direct IP on an MX. It causes all kinds of problems. (and is not compliant) :)

I'm running Imail 8.12. Customer says "how come I can send email to (insert name) at home, but not from your system?" I search the logs and find the message that failed. Log says "Stack Connect Fail". I try and connect to the IP address manually, can't connect. I then look up the MX record for the domain and find that Imail is trying to send to the "A" record and not the MX record! I can connect manually to the MX record IP just fine. My DNS server is resolving the MX record properly. Imail is trying to use the "A" record for some strange reason. My QMail box sends to the domain just fine and uses the same DNS server as the Imail box. Domain sending to is: lights-direct.com Any clues? Suggestions? Help? -Joe PS Try searching the archives for "A record". Doesn't work very well.
