Dear all,

For the last few weeks Web Messaging service has stopping for no aparent
reason. It happens several times a day, and my W1YYMMDD.log is full of lines
like the ones following:

20040809 090606 TCP DOWN WEB X.X.X.X:80 TCP -1
20040809 090707 TCP UP WEB X.X.X.X:80

where X.X.X.X is my server ip address.

For example, today my W1040809.log file has 98 lines, all of them are
warnings that Web Messaging has gone down and up.

I've managed to discover that the stopping occurs when some of my users
click in the subject line to display a message in the Web Messaging
interface.

I've also discovered that the problem is mainly due to the fact that the
message's To: line is 1113 characters long.

When those same users click to display other messages, no problem is
noticed, but when they click for the one with the long To: line, Web
Messaging stops.

I've setted-up a test machine to try to narrow down the problem, and I've
notice that the same message (I've copied the main.mbx between servers)
issues no crash in the test machine, but it causes the stop in the
production server.

Both of them have Imail 8.12-2004.05.13.4. The only difference is the
Operational System. The test machine (where everything works fine) is a
Win2000, and the production server (where the Web Messaging crashes) is a
Win2003.

Do you know of incompatibily problems between Win2003 and Imail? Do you have
any advise to overcome this issue?

As a last resource, do you know if it is possible to downgrade from a
Win2003 to a Win2000? Or should it be easier to export the Imail
configuration from the Registry on one server and import it on the other?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Eduardo Tomita.
