The public folder setup is well documented in the
manual (pg 107 in the 8.1 manual)...Not rocket surgery (brain science?)..Just
create a user named Public. Any mailboxes in this user will be considered
public. As for deleting messages, on an IMAP4 server this is a 2 step process.
First step is to delete them. This marks them for deletion. To make them
actually go away you need to send the IMAP server the "Expunge" command. This is
usually handled by the "Purge Deleted Messages" command from your
client..
