The public folder setup is well documented in the manual (pg 107 in the 8.1 manual)...Not rocket surgery (brain science?)..Just create a user named Public. Any mailboxes in this user will be considered public. As for deleting messages, on an IMAP4 server this is a 2 step process. First step is to delete them. This marks them for deletion. To make them actually go away you need to send the IMAP server the "Expunge" command.
