Sandy, Do you know of any circumstances in which there can be no ldeliver line in the logs, and the message isn't appended to the mailbox, yet the .smd file has gone? Travis asked on Friday if there is anything scanning that drive, and there isn't, and nor are there any scripts running that clean up the spool drive (I prefer to do that manually, which isn't that much of a bind on this box). Prompted by this series of mails, I checked out the disk capacity available to the spool directory, and we were getting fairly low (<500mb), but a cleanup of some obsolete domains and a few ludicrously over-inflated unused mailboxes freed up a couple of Gb, which should be fine for the volume of traffic which that server gets. Mail being sent is still is not being appended to the .mbx files, and there still aren't ldeliver entries in the logs.
