I believe I may have found my problem. We had gone to a new exchange server a couple of months back. During setup, inadvertently my default reply address was set to an address different than the one I use.
What I believe happened is that when I replied to the subscribe message the list server used the erroneous default reply address. Instead of the one that the subscription confirmations email was sent to. I don't know if that is by design, but it seems to be the only plausible explanation. I just unsubscribed using the erroneous address from before, and now I am only getting one email for each post.
