This looks interesting as well... http://www.emailarchitect.net/emailserver/ at less than a grand for unlimited users/domains, and an API for extending the product.  Don't know how it stacks up on performance/features, though.   Obviously it will take some time to evaluate options/stability/performance for migration of the mail system.  This may push us to the Postfix route, though.
