We're in the same boat as everyone else here - bought our service agreement recently (after getting the boss to go for it), even went to the $1000 seminar in San Francisco in September (no mention of this change in pricing schedule). Finally I was getting a good handle on everything I need to do to make my mail server work - automatic backups, batch scripts, database integration, Declude Anti-Virus, etc. Spending a lot of time and money to run a good email ship.

I don't want to migrate - I've liked Imail from the beginning, especially this newsgroup where I've been lurking for the past 4 years. It seems to me that a lot of this - the newsgroup, the add-on products Declude and mxGuard, and even Ipswitch itself will be drastically changed for the worse if these past 100 posts are any indication.

We will look elsewhere. Exchange is expensive, but I'll take a look. Merak looks comparable, but I'll have to install and check it out first. What a hassle.

of the new Bagle and Netsky viruses that got right through Imail AV this morning (we update
hourly)).

This smells like what WebTrends recently did... we used WebTrends Reporting Center 6 for basic
reporting. It ran us about $14k or so. With their new "pay-per-page-view" model in
WebTrends 7, their charge to us was $956,000. A YEAR. A million bucks for basic web analytics!
NO way to downgrade to reduced functionality. After an outburst from the end users, they're
now supposedly considering it (too late, we're moving to LiveStats). If we all speak up (as we
are!), maybe IpSWitch will listen, too.

You'd think Ipswitch would have, you know, SURVEYED their users to see what they would
be willing to accept...

BTW, we now know where the updates to the broken subject/reply to issue in the 8.13
web templates is... all resources were focused on ICS. Sorry, Ipswitch... first thing
after lunch, I'm going to look for a new platform.

Hi,

Last week I had a very long phone call with ipswitch about ICS and the future of IMail.
So, Ipswitch moves to the direction "buy nothing or everthing". The really big shock is
this, that an normal subscription will nore more be available.

As an small ISP, we can't afford an upgrade to ICS. Simple like that.
We made a quick phone poll to our customers and everbody was upset about this new
strategy.

Mostly all customers ha choosen IMail as a simple, powerful but affordable Mail-Server.
About 50% are running AntiVirus Standard, the others have an seperate Antivirus
Gateway.

As an gold partner of ipswitch, i'm really afraid to lose most of our IMail-customers.
Our customers are *not* willing to buy things, they don't need.

I hope, that tons of customers worldwide are also upset and ipswitch will follow to
the customer
needs and not the dreams of the marketing department.

Or in other words: Give us IMail Pro back, including the simple subscriptions and
offer all Gadgets seperatly.

To answer some questions, before they will occur:

- AntiVirus Pro or standard is included. IMail without any AntiVirus solution is not
supported.
- "Classic" Subscriptions are no longer available.
- ICS is bound to certain numbers of seats or unlimited.

Actually my concerns are more about the future life of Imail as separate
stand-alone email server. Or will it become so integrated into the
Collaboration package that one will be forced to the package? Also will
Imail development/improvements take a back seat to the package?

I don't believe this.

Instead of creating an add-on package, the collaboration package is an all
encompassing package, including Imail, Premium Anti-Virus and Killer Webmail
templates.

This is crazy.

You are being asked to pay for Imail again along with paying for "Premium
Anit-Virus" even if you already have Imail and do not want the Anti-Virus.
