As a Ipswitch VAR, I justed talked to our Ipswitch Partner in Germany and can confirm the whole thing. - Imail is dead - COS is the only available Server. (in the difrent packages) - running subscriptions are valid, could not be renewd - if you upgrade you will get a special price and the remaining time of your old subscribtion will be added Offical new pricing for germany will be out in the next days (2. Nov) I told him my concerns. His answer was that it is a good deal compared with excange and Symantec AV... But he was shure that if enough customers complain and the product could not be sold well that Ipswitch might change their attitude. For me I am convinced that a) COS is not the product needed and wanted by most of IMail users b) COS is not the right alternative to Excange (Either use Excange or a free server...) c) Ipswitch ignored theit customer base and dropped a good and well known product for something complete diferent. Why can somebody be so stupid and drop even the well known product name? Imail was a good alternative for Excange (if you just needed the mail part) or other Mail products. So now their is no Ipswitch alternative to suggest to our customers. If you are lloking for a free alternative to Imail on a windows System, have a look at Hmail server http://sourceforge.net/projects/hmailserver/ http://www.hmailserver.com/ The GUI is very similar! Maybe this and similar programs are the reaseon why they change their market? All features Protocols supported: POP3 SMTP IMAP Database types supported: MySQL (built-in) MySQL (external) Microsoft SQL Server Languages supported: Dutch English French German Italian Norwegian Spanish Swedish User features: Aliases/distribution lists AntiVirus Filters Spam protection Vacation messages Webmail (SquirrelMail) Web-based administration Other miscallenous features: COM API Routing IP ranges Mirroring Open relay protection Paralell delivery of email Virtual domains So a perfect and free Imail alternative (and nearly as easy to install as Imail!)
