Supposing that alternative products have a similar basic functionality, I am looking for
a solution to cover the following details/features:

Implementation:
- virtual SMTP servers (all maildomains on the same IP address)
- bind SMTP processes to one single IP address (to run other port 25 apps on the same box)
- change SMTP port fom 25 to something different (to run other front-end relay software on the same box)
- configurable SMTP retry times (to cope with mailpartners using Greylisting)

Mailhandling:
- copy all mail traffic of the whole SMTP server to a given mailbox or subdir (for archiving, troubleshooting, logging)
- program aliases (start external application with the eml mailfile as parameter or similar functionality)
- info manager ("mailbot" to send out automated responses)
- rules at domain and user level (for filtering, sorting, forwarding...)
- Backup MX capable (requeue mails for specific "backup" maildomains)

Security:
- SMTP authentication for roaming users (or POP before SMTP, alternatively)

Webmail:
- multi-language client support (german umlauts, french accents, spanish tildes, swedish smorebrods)
- configurable port
- SSL support
- skinnable

Does anyone knows if MailEnable or SmarterMail offer all of these features?
Are you already filling in a feature matrix of competing products - do you mind sharing?

BTW, I like these companies' approach of providing migration tools for IMail Users!

For Antivirus and Antispam, I am relying (pun intended) on XWall, being capable of SPF, Greylisting, Statistics, Heuristics, Phraselists, SURBL, DNSBL and so on... XWall licensing is per server, which counts for ISPs and large companies. I like to have a highly specialized product doing the "dirty work" in front of the actual mailserver, keeping off most of the garbage.
