You know...if you think about this, it does make sense. Why yank a product completely? If you are trying to balance needs of different types of users you supplement, not EOL products. I honestly think they were not getting enough sales from IM and AV so the option was to bundle it all in one product and EOL the standalone mail server. This all but crushes third party ad ons and forces customers to use Ipswitch for such add ons instead of cheaper alternatives. Just my .02 on it...take it as you will. Ipswitch has to do what they have to do. The market will decide their future.

Something else to add to this is that if Ipswitch was 'trying hard" to balance the needs of both the current user base and the new users, they would not have pulled IMail, but rather continued to offer IMail and simplly offer ICS as an alternative to those that wanted such a product.

    A quick note from the Ipswitch Executive Team:**

    * *

We really do appreciate the input we’re receiving from IMail users
about ICS. We understand that some of you are unhappy about our
decision, and a variety of suggestions are being considered. Ipswitch is trying hard to balance the needs of both the current
user base and the new users we are now attracting to ICS.

    Everyone’s situation is a bit different, and some misconceptions
    have been posted to the Forum. If you have questions about your
    particular circumstances, pricing and functionality details, ideas
    for us to consider, or would just like to chat, the Ipswitch
    Executive team would be happy to hear from you. eMail and blogging
    have their place, but sometimes telephones are more effective.

    At the end of the day, we hope to convince you that ICS is a good
    thing, because it ensures an aggressive development future for
    IMail, and protects your investment in Ipswitch messaging
    infrastructure. We’ve spoken to many people who have downloaded
    ICS, and they are extremely pleased with it.
