I don't understand people continuing to ask Ipswitch if they are going to reconsider. The statements from them posted to this list have been FIRM and UNAMBIGOUS.

On Wednesday, Oct 27 - Two days into this debacle their "Senior Marketing Manager", David Karp stated:

"...I encourage all of you to download and evaluate ICS. If it doesn't meet
your needs, I wish you success with a product that does. If it does, I
think you'll find our special pricing for IMail customers to be attractive.
Those of you who are particularly price-sensitive might find better deals
from an Ipswitch reseller than from us directly..."

The only way he could have been clearer would be by saying.

"It is ICS from this point forward. You may find better pricing on our product from resellers. You don't like it or the price then don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Either get aboard (we are not) or switch to a new product (we will - SmarterMail). Until then it does NO good to continue the debate and beg Ipswitch to reconsider because we (and I am sure this includes many, many others on this list) can still benefit from the exchange of ideas for troubleshooting our now End of Life email servers before our new solution servers are built and our users and domains migrated. At some point Ipswitch would certainly be within THEIR rights to stop these discussions on THEIR listserv.

While it is true that IMail can certainly continue to operate on our servers if we so desired (see the many people still running versions 6.x and 7.x) we can't take the chance that a major problem (bug, security breach etc...) will rear it's head leaving us without recourse for "official" tech support or that the major brain trusts on this list will have migrated to other solutions. In the past if such an issue arose for the people that have been running 6.x or 7.x they always had the option to renew their SA and upgrade to the newest version that addressed the issue they were fighting. Now, your only Ipswitch solution if to bear the cost of an upgrade to ICS. That being the case we need to jump to a cost effective solution were we KNOW we will be able to obtain ongoing support for a current product.
