Hi,

A customer of mine reported, that his IMail servers does not respond and/or is
slow. The
spool directory was full up with thousands of files. After checking the log
files, the
mistake was found.

what happened?

A user added a forward file to an different domain/account on the same server.
On the
other account, an different forward file was installed bouncing back the mail
to the first
account on the other domain. He also installed a vacation message.

He sent a mail to somebody. Unfortunately this account reached his disk space
limit and
bounced a message back.

This was the beginning of a long, very long ping-pong game :-(
IMail was quite busy with playing around. 150'000 messages were generated in no
time.

After stopping all services, removing the forward files and cleaning up the
spool directory, the
server was fixed.

Does anybody know, if Guantanamo Bay is ready to book a ticket for a very
stupid IMail user?
