If this is the issue it is a catch 22 since the Foundry Server Iron we use for NAT and port blocking is our best anti hacker protection and I would be very reluctant to put the Imail server out in front of it.

Best guess (since you didn't even identify the complaining MTA) is
whatever server you tried relaying through isn't configured as an open
