You have to have windows networking ports open for that. If you have those disabled for security, or blocked by a firewall, then the web-based option might be desirable...if no VPN is available.

I have one called "Console" with Services, Event Viewer and IIS for ALL my servers. Do Start | Run | MMC. Console | Add Remove Snap-in Add, Folder, Close, OK. Rename "Folder" to Servername. Console | Add | select servername | Add DNS, Add Event Viewer, Add Services, Add Close Pick the next server, rinse and repeat. When it's PERFECT, Colsole, Options, mode User (pick one). That'll lock the mmc. To re-Author, just open it with the Shift Key down. Console, Save As. hth, Dan ps: I've not figured out how to order the snap-ins after insertion, so be sure to put them in in order. Mine are alphabetical. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Vincent Toussaint Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 10:03 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] OT: Windows Event Log Management I use MMC... Free. Maybe this is not what you're looking for. You can connect to multiple server/workstation and manage them by loading the "computer management" snap-in... Or just the "Event Viewer" snap-in. I have 7 Windows Servers. Combination of 2000 and NT. I have been looking for a program to allow me to view all the event logs just from my Windows 2000 Pro Desktop. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. I have looked at several programs [GFI Languard, etc.] but they seem very complex for what I want to do.
