Sounds good, but i really won't get into Linux right now
You don't have to be a seasoned, full Unix sysadmin to run imgate. You learn only what you need initially, basically an editor and which files to play with. Linux/fbsd minimum, standard, general-purpose installations are sufficient, and pick up the rest, if anything, as you go along.
the postfix website documentation, manual pages, etc has been recently upgraded and is excellent. IMGate is just kind of a how-to pre-configured for mail relay.
and and my budget for additional hardware is below zero ;-)
I bet most IMGate users spend $0.00 on new hardware, by grabbing a 2- or 3-, or more, year-old machine, or using the Imail/declude machine that had been using as an unsatisfactory MX and converting it to IMGate.
