I completely agree. It is even worth to regiter if you need more
monitors.
Monitors whatever possible and uses dependendcies. There is even a plugin to 
monito a mail
roundtrip (send mail to a any SMTP Server and loog if it reaches your
pop mailbox).
- Monitors whatever is possible (you can even create own dlls and
scripts)
- Alarms depending on timetables (even nows hollydays)
- Send an Mail, Pager, Program, Start a service, play a sound... whatever you 
like
as an
an alarm
- free definition of escalations (eg. send an email after the second
failed ping and then restart a server if 20% of the last 50 pings
where down or when the mails don't reach your target
- Logfiles and HTML statistics
- ...

If you look for a program which is easyer to use but not so flexible have a 
look at
whatsUP from Ipswitch.

For huge installation i recomend gfi languard (which is not even as
powerfull and felxible as ServersAlive but made for huge networks
with many maschines to manage from a single console)
