I just learned something new here, thanks Darin. We have some clients that
have their client set to check email every minute which generates longer log
files and makes manually looking at them harder. Now I see there is
something I hadn't noticed that will help.

Actually I wish there was a way to generate an error for them if they log in
too often. That is of course not as Bud suggested, I know that would cause
some errors :)

Ted

I think he wanted to stop the Logging of POP logins, not to stop users from
logging in.

I think in IMail 8 and higher you can set the POP and SMTP traffic for
separate log files, at least then separating the two, but it may require a
reg tweak if IMail was upgraded from 6 or 7.

Or perhaps just turn off POP logging altogether if you don't want it.

Darin.

Sure. Change their mail password or delete their mail account. Of
course, at that point the mail server isn't much use. The snippet of
log file you posted is very likely someone's mail program checking for
new mail. Many users set ridiculously low intervals for such checks.
On the plus side, these checks take very little in the way of CPU time,
so it's likely no big deal.

The SYS*.TXT file is the iMail log file. If you don't want it, just use
iMail administrator to configure your services to not create/use log files.
