Our company has been looking into purchasing a Spam Firewall (Email Gateway). I have researched Meridius, ProofPoint, and Vircom Modus Gate. I tried to get a sales person with barracuda networks to contact me for three weeks before giving up on them....

Each of these companies have claimed that their product can do it however, during the requested online demonstration only one company has been able to show me that it actually can be setup to scan outgoing email.
FWIW, you may want to look into products that were designed specifically for IMail. For example, one company (OK, I'm biased <G>) is older than Brightmail, has more customers than Postini, and incorporated Bayesian analysis before "The Article" that caused other anti-spam programs to fear the results of not having Bayesian filtering.
Unless you're dealing with a volume not commonly seen among IMail customers (1/4 million E-mails per day or so), an anti-spam program designed for IMail may be your best bet. It's one less machine to deal with, no need to fuss with MX records (and either worry that spammers will find your IMail server, or lock it down appropriately), outgoing E-mail scanned automatically, etc.
