I must have missed a reply but someone said that they bought a 100KW
generator? I was wondering how much that was?
We've got a 15 KW which charges our 10 KW UPS but it would be real nice
to have one that runs the building. That cost us $2500 so I imagine a
100KW would be $20K?
I also think we need to be talking about amps and not watts here. Our
cooling system is a dinosaur from the mainframe days but it's still
working like a champ. I haven't looked but I would guess that it's in
the 100 amp range to run it. Since our data center has doors on each
end of it we get good airflow through it with them open.

I had a lot of other electrical work done at the same time and didn't
break it out. In my market, I'd guess it would cost about $1,500 or
so for a licensed electrician to do the installation.
Look in the yellow pages and google for a local Generac service
company. They should be able to give you a good guesstimate, without
coming out to the site.
You need to have it installed by a Generac dealer or licensed
electrician in order to send in the warranty card. The card requires
the license number . . .
In my case, I also need a plumber to run the Natural Gas line and for
the Gas Co. to install a larger, more adequate meter. It does suck
down some NG when it runs and the std meter and pipe size is too small
to support the load. That will also void the warranty, if not properly
sized for the unit.

You'll need to buy a battery for it and make sure you have a 11-14" WC
Natural Gas regulator.
Check eBay, too.

We've got the largest 'air cooled' Generac and run natural gas. We
only use about 40A of the 100A capacity to power all of our network,
air, lights and other essential items. It's been in service about 2
yrs and it's trouble free.
We found a place in Arizona on the Internet (don't remember the name)
with a good price, including lift-gate shipping.
