      Is Kiwi faster than you the native IMail syslog on files sizes of
around 250MB plus sys logs.

As  John  said,  use Kiwi (or any other free syslog daemon) instead of 
the built-in SYSLOGD. You are bound to get more functionality, even at 
the very lowest end.
