  You should run IMail's log analyzer called Analyze. Use the 'SMTP Senders 
Remote' report
  selection. Hopefully it will become VERY apparent. It did here. The account 
on our server that
  was being abused tossed over 100,000 messages in a 24 hour period (1 msgs/sec 
average).

  Also, I usually know something's not right when our monitoring system starts 
paging me telling
  me SMTP is down on our IMail servers. I rarely get pages anymore on our IMail 
servers. The ONLY
  time it's happened in the past year are when the spool piles up and the SMTP 
connections are
  full. A good indication that something is going on.
