If you rename the main.mbx to someother name say restored.mbx you can
put it in the users folder and they will have it as an addition folder
in their mailbox, thus not having to download all new mail.

I would imagine disable AV on mail server, make sure client has
downloaded
all messages & then put that mbx file back in users mailbox where
desktop AV
will take care of it, right?
