Hi,

Ik have several users with a imnews.rc file in their mail folder. The IpSwitch knowlege base still does not know anything about imnews.rc. Might be nice of them to at least add ONE entry stating what it is for. I have found a reference in the archives telling it has something to do with IMAP but that's all.

It seems indeed to have to do something with using IMAP, after deleting it in my own mailbox I have found one BIG difference. Outlook Express has forgotten which folders I want to see. Also when telling it I still want to see all folders it will reload ALL messages from the server. I have A LOT of folders with a lot of messages in there. :-( Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to test this with my own account. ;-)

As I now have a user with a problem syncing their InBox i'm looking into any IMAP related problem. The user is getting "timeout" problems, Outlook Express telling it (in Dutch):

De map Postvak IN is niet gecontroleerd op het aantal ongelezen berichten. Kan de aantallen voor ongelezen Postvak IN op Mark bij Tio niet ophalen. Account: 'Mark bij Tio', Server: 'mail.tio.nl', Protocol: IMAP, Reactie van server: 'STATUS Mailbox does not exist', Poort: 143, Beveiligd(SSL): Nee, Foutnummer: 0x800CCCD2

Translation: The folder "Postvak IN" is not checked for unread messages. Cannot get the number of unread "Postvak IN" at <OE account name>. Account......  Server..... Protocol...... Reaction from server:....  that's all English or understandable.)

Account: 'Mark bij Tio', Server: 'mail.tio.nl', Protocol: IMAP, Reactie van server: 'SELECT No Such Mailbox', Poort: 143, Beveiligd(SSL): Nee, Foutnummer: 0x800CCCD2
Translation: Downloading headers for folder "Postvak IN" did not complete. Cannot select "Postvak In" at the server. It is recommended to reset the folderlist. Bla bla bla.

As this is a problem with the InBox which has no corresponding folder with the same name, and the main folder is simply there, I wonder what the problem is. Anybody????

Groetjes,

Bonno Bloksma
