So, the simple question here is this: Do companies, or ISPs have backup MX servers off line (and off site) just for the purpose of turning them on when the WHOLE site of the primary mail servers go down?

I think a backup MX, duplicating the primary MX, offsite, and off-line until it detects the primary MX is not responding, is the best setup.

How much would be a reasonable cost/fee for such a backup MX service that is off 98% of the year?
