Matt, Personally, I don't care whether they fire anyone or not (#1), but in general, I agree with you. I have been a Ipswitch/IMail customer since version 4.x (delivered on floppy disks). For the price of an IMail service/maintenance contract, you can get brand-new, unlimited licenses for each of two different brand mail servers. Generally speaking, both have equal or better SMTP/POP3 functionality and Web Mail that was designed/invented after 1995.
