WOW. I am heartened that Ipswitch appears to be seriously listening to us
admins. See this post from last week:

http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/msg97693.html

This survey is a good first step in keeping remaining Imail users. I would
love to see a rewritten Imail seriously challenge Kerio, Merak, etc. Competition
makes everybody better.

Note to Ipswitch: Go all-out in developing the best performing Webmail
implementation
in the market. Make your customers say WOW when they see your rich web client.
Dazzle
them with the speed and feature set. Webmail is the ONLY face end-users and
management
actually see of your product. Dont skimp--make sure you go from the present
worst
to unqualified BEST webmail in the new release. You've got the talented
programmers. Turn 'em loose on it.

See inline answers to survey below.

Both

> 2) If IMail required a web server, which would you prefer: a proprietary
> web server shipped with IMail, IIS or Apache?

Proprietary OK if robust, flexible, and bullet-proof. Apache OK if install is
seamlessly integrated into IMail setup. No to IIS.

> 3) Would it be a problem if IMail required IIS?

Yes. Too many unnecessary potential security holes for a box running
mission-critical email.

> 4) Would it be a problem if IMail required the .Net framework?

Yes. See 3 above.

> 5) Would it be a problem if IMail required PHP?

No. Very happy with Merak implementation.
