Here's what we ended up dong... Please let me know if you think this parachute won't open!! <gg>
1) Set up host aliases for the domains on the new box as something like fwd.example.com where example.com is the domain in question.
I set-up the actual domain name in the new box. So the domain exists on 2 boxes. The second box is a "virtual/ip-less domain".
2) In the hosts file on the old box (or in dns) set up an entry for fwd.example.com as the IP address of the new box.
didn't do this at all...
3) In Imail Administrator on the old box, set each account to forward to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
instead of this, i set each account to forward to:[EMAIL PROTECTED]@ip.number.ofnew.box
Users get all their mail at the new box.
Users can log into new box with ip# until dns changes take effect.
It SEEMS to be working so far...
